JOHN WEBB is a watercolour artist and sketcher. A retired architect he has continued to visualise, draw and paint. Naturally buildings creep into his views.
An inveterate sketcher - he’s never without a sketchbook - he adds the immediacy of fast working to his bigger paintings. He works in pencil, ink and watercolour and preferably in the open air ‘en plein air’... or inside buildings/on sites.
He enjoys recording events or longer development projects like Brentford Football Club's Community Stadium here and BAFTA's redevelopment of 195 Piccadilly here. Or just taking time on holidays to study place or places...there are few examples in the Galleries list.
Mixed exhibitions include Guardian Witness Awards 2014, Orange Tree Theatre, Chelsea Old Town Hall and Orleans House Gallery. His work - some commissioned - is included in several private collections. Most of his paintings can be purchased - a selection can be found here.
